LCFD#10 was audited September 18, 2019 to obtain a “Public Protection Classification” (PPC™) code that insurance companies often utilize in assessing structure fire risks for homes and businesses. This was LCFD#10’s first ISO audit.
ISO's Public Protection Classification (PPC™) program measures and evaluates the effectiveness of fire-mitigation services in communities throughout the country. For each fire protection area, ISO assigns a PPC code — a number from 1 to 10. A PPC classification of “1” represents exemplary fire protection, and a “10” indicates that the area's fire-suppression program doesn't meet ISO's minimum criteria. LCFD#10 has never had a PPC code and thus would not have been considered for any fire-mitigation insurance discounts.
As a result of the ISO audit, LCFD#10 will receive a split PPC classification of 8B* for structures within five road miles from either of our fire stations (Harriman & Willadsen) and a rating of 10 for structures greater than five road miles from both stations.
